The scope of what is called knowledge is as wide as the seas and oceans. This does not change in project management. A type of categorization is needed to decide which information is included in which field. PMI made this categorization by creating 10 different knowledge areas, each of which addresses a different topic, through 49 processes conducted in project management.
Process groups are a grouping according to the phase in which the project is located within the framework of the deming cycle. Every PMP preparation book you get is actually grouped according to these project management process groups or information areas. This makes it easier for both the project team and stakeholders to become aware of the nature of the current process.
